You might think that the government would want to get a little better at regular paper governance before it tired to go high tech with electronic government. Well, if you thought that, you would be wrong, because government is moving on with the 'E-government' thing. It made a major stride in that direction today with the inauguration of an information technology training center. Speaking at the opening today, the Prime Minister said the public service gets a bum rap for inefficiency.
Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Prime Minister
"The image of the public service has, I think, taken a bum rap for many years now in that there is this growing perception that if you want it done properly you have to privatize it; that's the only way it can work and that need not be so. There is great virtue in privatization in several instances but not in all cases. What we need to show is that the public service can do it as well, if not better, in many situations."
Like all good things in GOB-land, the center, home to 30 computers, is donated by the Taiwanese government.
