The water meter situation in the village of Progresso is taking on new dimensions as the chairwoman's personal water pump was set on fire last night. Lorraine Smith who is also a member of the Progresso Water Board told police that a water pump that she uses to service her resort, fantasy point, was burnt last night. Sometime around 11:30 and 12:00 last night a man was seen near the water pump that is in the resort's compound. He had a lighter in his hand and the owners of the resort believe he set the small concrete structure that houses the water pump and other equipment on fire. In the process the pump valued at $2,100 was completely destroyed along with some other equipment that was inside. Police briefly detained Andrew Bowman in connection with the investigation.
Bowman you will recall is one of the main opponents of the installation of water meters in the village. Bowman says he was picked up by police, held overnight and then released.
