No Bail For Serial Robber

He stole only $5, but because he's a repeat offender, Ellis Meighan got no sympathy from the court today.

32-year-old Meighan who has 18 previous convictions for similar offences appeared in court again today for another charge. 34-year-old Roy Zelaya reported that Meighan robbed him while he was waiting to pick up a fired chicken. Zelaya was at Belizean Fry Chicken at the corner of Ebony and Hondo Streets when Meighan approached him, put a knife at his throat and snatched a $5 bill he was holding.

In court today Meighan pleaded not guilty to robbery and Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord denied him bail and remanded him until November 24.
