Three city residents, including two minors, accused of an outrageous sexual assault had their charges taken to court today. On July 17th of last year, a 14-year-old girl told police that she went to visit a 14-year-old female friend at her home in the Lake Independence area. She said that when she got there, 22-year-old Clive Hyde started to fondle her, and then slammed the door shut when she tried to leave. That's when she claims her 14-year-old friend assaulted her, ripped her blouse and pants. Then the 14 year old placed a knife to her neck, allowing Clive Hyde and an 11-year-old boy to fondle her. The girl says she eventually managed to escape.
Today, the 11 year old boy and Clive Hyde appeared in court to answer to charges of aggravated assault or indecent assault of a minor. But the case against those two was struck out for want of prosecution, because the prosecutor told the court that they couldn't find the victim.
And while he struck out the case for those two, the Chief Magistrate was not so understanding for the 14-year-old girl. Her charges stand and she still has to answer to aggravated assault, damage to property and abetment to commit aggravated assault. Although only 14, this teenaged girl already has an unfortunate criminal history, after she broke a female attendant's hand in the girl's home and promised to deliver more violence if she is returned there.
