It's official: Area Representatives Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde today resumed duties as Ministers of Cabinet in the Musa administration. They left the Cabinet ten months ago and emerged as fierce and strident critics of the Musa administration. But after weeks of reconciliation talks, they've gone back home. The Prime Minister's office announced that Mark Espat will take up the portfolios of National Development, Investment and Culture, while Cordel Hyde will serve as Minister of Defense, Housing, Sports and Youth. We understand that additionally both men will serve on the ministerial level Public Finance Committee.
And as they get these new portfolios, other Cabinet colleagues have been made to surrender some of theirs. Espat gets Investment from Ralph Fonseca, and he takes National Development from the Prime Minister and Culture from Francis Fonseca. Hyde gets Defense from Vildo Marin, Housing from Sylvia Flores and Sports and Youth form Francis Fonseca. And if all that isn't make-up enough, the Belize Times reports that both men will also take up posts on the pup executive as co-deputy Campaign Managers, under national campaign boss Ralph Fonseca.
