Police say he used his public office to shake down a business owner, and today, sales tax employee Ben Bol was charged for extortion.
Lloyd Sutherland, who runs Royal Catering Services in the Lake Independence Area, told police that on November 14th Leodan Torres and Ben Bol told him that he owned a quarter million dollars in taxes, but offered to write it off if he paid them $1,500. Sutherland reported the matter to police, who set up a sting, and caught Torres with two marked $50 bills. Torres was charged with extortion on December the fifth and Bol, who has been working in the sales tax office for 5 years, was charged today. He was offered and met bail.
