Their first poll raised eyebrows and controversy when it gave the Prime Minister an abysmal 20% approval rating, and now SPEAR is pushing the envelope again with a new poll. But this time, it's not about political parties, it's about voters. Pollsters spoke to 387 Belizeans older than 18 in every district over 5 days, between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. The findings show that 73% of respondents in all 6 districts agreed that vision is what they vote for in a political party. Only 68% said they would vote for a party for money. Only 25% said they would vote for a party because it is their family's party. And 79% said they would vote for a candidate because they felt he or she had integrity.
According to the poll, for voters, the most important issues are corruption and poverty, and the least important is victimization. And as for campaign financing and where it comes from, the greatest number of voters, 35% believe it comes from big business. And 18% believe it comes from illegal sources, the poll has a plus or minus 6% margin of error.
