Police say the murder of American retiree Lestor Langdon in San Pedro was a hit and his own maid and handyman did it. The 22-year-old maid Maria del Carmen Maaz and the 22 year old handyman Mauricio Chiac were both arraigned in the San Pedro Magistrate's Court this morning on charges of murder and abetment to commit murder. The 71-year-old retiree was found dead inside his San Pablo home around 1 am on Sunday. His body was already decomposing but a post mortem showed that a blow to the skull killed him. Police say they believe Chiac and Maaz were hired to kill Langdon by a third accomplice who may have had a business interest in his demise. Langdon has called Belize home for the last 31 years. He was a real estate agent until six months ago when he sold his business.
Chiac and Maaz have been remanded to the Hattieville Prison until January 26th.
