The Executive Director of Crime Stoppers Miami-Dade Jack Sullivan was in the country earlier this week. He was here on a familiarization tour of Belize and as a show of support to the Crime Stoppers Program in Belize. We spoke to him yesterday before he left and he says that everyone here has been receptive to the program and his presence here was as a part of encouraging efforts for the program to continue.

Jack Sullivan, Crime Stoppers
"We visited most law enforcement agencies and some of the elected officials and I have to say this for the people that the response from the law enforcement and the elected officials, they have been supportive from the time we started until we stopped. I came to show support within the law enforcement community and also to the community at large that this is real world, we are part of it, we do offer this, and that is why I took the time out to come here because I believe in the program, I believe the community needs it uses it, and once they get comfortable with it, I think you'll see a lot more crimes are going to be solved because of community involvement."

The Crime Stoppers hotline is 0-800-922-TIPS. Anyone with information on a crime can call this number anonymously and can expect a reward based on the success of the call.
