Quick work by the police has two men behind bars facing charges of murder in the shooting death of Chinese businessman 31 year old Wen Ger Zheng, also known as Alex. Zheng was shot at his store on Marage Road in Ladyville on Tuesday night and now police say that because of close cooperation with the community they have his killers.

"The public of Ladyville, with the assistance of the police's quick reaction in responding to that incident, has resulted in the arrest of two individuals by the name of Akeem Lord, a 17 year old resident of Ladyville, and one Dwayne Cruz, a 21 year old resident of Ladyville. Both persons were arraigned in Magistrate's Court today in Belize City and charged for the murder of Mr. Zheng. From the inception of the investigation it was obvious that the motive was robbery and as the investigation unfolded to where we are today, that remains that the motive was robbery as monies was stolen from within the store."

Have you all recovered the firearm and the property that was taken from the store?

"We did not recover the firearm neither did we recover any of the money stolen. The money that was stolen has been spent but I must say that we have overwhelming evidence that we could present to a court of law and secure a conviction. I'd like to commend the police in Ladyville and likewise the CIB in Belize City and furthermore I must commend the community of Ladyville, the public. Those who assisted us greatly to have been able to solve this case which many people believed would have gone unsolved."
