The Belize Defense Force (BDF) turns 28 on Saturday and they want you at their birthday party. Official ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday morning at Price Barracks in Ladyville with a military parade. Later on the fun moves to the Marion Jones Stadium. President of the BDF Day Committee is Lieutenant Colonel Dario Tapia and he told us what to expect on Saturday.

Lt. Col. Dario Tapia,
"The BDF is known to be a fun day where the family could come and enjoy themselves and also interact with the soldiers. We look forward to having a fun day out there among the Belizean people and its tradition that the BDF day is fun for the family and people can come out here and enjoy themselves along with us. Traditional military displays will be out there, the Air Wing will be out there, the National Coast Guard will be out there. We'll have the mock battle, boxing, cycling, the cycling is being done in conjunction with the Belize Cycling Association and there'll be finishing their race there. We'll also have the games for the kids out there and we shoot for them to take part. We have the greasy pig, a greasy pole, and a tug of war. Of course we also have a football match as well."

$1 will get you into the Marion Jones Stadium and that will also earn you a ticket to a raffle to win cash prizes. First prize will be $500 courtesy Atlantic Bank. The day will be rounded out with a performance by the Coolie Rebels.
