He spent the weekend locked down in a Cayo jail but since yesterday 19-year-old Abdiel Sandoval was once again walking the streets of Cayo a free man. He is the young man accused of brutally stabbing and paralyzing his 15 year old girlfriend after they broke up in September of 2005.

As we've reported, Justice Michelle Arana denied Sandoval bail in October of 2005 but in December, a magistrate in Cayo let the teenager out on bail after an unopposed submission by Sandoval's attorney Michael Peyrefitte. The admission of bail outraged the girl's family and even the Chief Justice who lamented it at the opening of this session of the Supreme Court. Well it seems police in Cayo took that to heart and late last week they arrested Sandoval. The problem is they had no legal standing to arrest him since the order of the Magistrate was still in effect.

According to his attorney, that's wrongful imprisonment and yesterday morning, Peyrefitte secured his release. Peyrefitte says that police want the bail revoked, they'll have to do it at Sandoval's next court appearance scheduled for February 20th.

Yesterday, the Donis family told 7NEWS that Abdiel Sandoval continues to intimidate them. Sandoval's attorney Michael Peyrefitte has gone on record that he will not condone that behavior from his client.
