An off duty police officer snagged a fleeing robbery suspect on Saturday evening. Police say that around 6 pm 29 year old Oliver Ferguson robbed 39-year-old Edward Saldano and a friend at gunpoint on Raccoon Street. The gunman grabbed a $4,000 gold chain from Saldano's neck and $400 in cash.
Constable Andre Sanchez was in the area at the time and saw Ferguson hightailing it out of the area. Though he was off-duty, Sanchez set chase on foot and caught up with Ferguson in the North Creek area. PC Sanchez called for backup and Ferguson was taken into custody.
Police found $200 in cash as well as an empty 9-millimeter pistol. Ferguson has since been charged with two counts of robbery in addition to keeping an unlicensed firearm. Today in court, he was denied bail and remanded into custody until April thirtieth. Police are now looking for his alleged accomplice Kareem Williams.
