We often hear and see of people traveling the world on bicycles but most are driven for their need to see the world at a leisurely pace. One man who's doing it for a grander purpose is David Kroodsma who left California in November of last year and is making his way to the southern tip of Argentina all in the hope of raising awareness of the global effect of climate change. He stopped by our studios today to explain.

David Kroodsma, Riding For the Climate
"There's two reason. One is simply to see the world but the other is trying to get a message out, I'm trying to raise awareness about climate change and what it means for all the places I am riding through. So for instance here in Belize I am really trying to draw attention to the reefs and there is a lot of visiting schools along the way, over 1,000 students in the USA who are following me on this trip and I hope to visit some schools here in Belize too.

One of the challenge for climate change is that it is a global problem so I am saying, 'look, we are going to lose the Amazon, this is going to be bad for people in Peru or this will be bad for people in Mexico and trying to get this idea of global citizenship and that we should care about the rest of the world and that is why we need to act on this.

The most amazing about this ride is to get the rebound off people ane people get really excited about this and every time people tell us we are right about this and this is something people care about.

Its really, I think, the best way to see the world and I was real excited when I rode into Belize. I saw people on bicycles, I heard that cycling is such an important national sport and I think that's fantastic. Cycling is the right speed to see things. Like I see all the towns between here and California, all through Mexico, Guatemala; its really been a fantastic way to see the world."

David leaves Belize for Honduras in the next couple of days.
