M1 Assault Rifle Off the Street

And while there were three shootings in the city last night, police continue to work very effectively to take some very heavy firepower off the streets. The Criminal Intelligence Unit has scored with another big weapons seizure. Around 4:30am this morning, the CIU searched on a residence on Lovely Lane in Belize City where they found a 30 M1 assault rifle and a quantity of live 9mm rounds. As a result, police have arrested 45-year-old Judith Rocke, 18-year-old Leon Garcia and three 16-year-old minors who were at the house at the time of the discovery. All persons have been charge with the crime of keeping a prohibited firearm. Police intelligence also lead to an open lot on Nurse Seay Street where they found a bag containing 59 live rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition. No one was around at the time of that search.
