The girl murders started in 1998 and ended in the year 2000. And while the case of what may be Belize's first serial killer remains an unsolved mystery, Channel 5, Crime Stoppers and the Police Department are teaming up to see if the killer can be brought to justice. A reward of $100,000 is being offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer called Jack. Though there have been no new leads in the last 5 years, and the case, if not in deep freeze, is definitely cold, Deputy Commissioner of Police Maureen Leslie today told a press conference gathering that she is sure the killer is still out there which was some consolation to Fabiana Scott, aunt of Jackie "Fern" Malic.

Maureen Leslie, Deputy Commissioner of Police
"We believe that there are people in Belize who are aware of these cases who know what went down and for some reason, maybe in the past not bothered by their conscience as Mr. Krohn mentioned and Miss Garcia, they are not too concerned. We are hoping that with $100,000, which will be more than I will get when I retire, will entice and encourage someone to come forward and to give closure to these families and to the whole country on a whole."

Fabiana Scott, Jackie Malic's Aunt
"Seven other young girls were murdered and the killer or killers was never found. Since then I have never been the same. I hate, I anger, and mistrust anyone around me. Fear and paranoia took over my whole body and no stone should be left unturned to find the sick culprit who has harmed any child."

Again, the reward is for information leading to the conviction or arrest. Tips can be called in, anonymously to 0800-922-TIPS.
