A prison officer is tonight lucky to be out on bail, and not locked down inside a cell, after he was caught allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana into the Hattieville Prison.
Yesterday evening 33-year-old Rene Young was busted when his colleagues at the Hattieville Prison decided to check a black knapsack he was carrying. Inside they found a while metal dish covered with a white and purple cloth. The marijuana was allegedly inside the dish, which was wrapped in plastic and further secured with masking tape. The marijuana weighed in at 227.1 grams.
Young was charged with drug trafficking and today he was arraigned in court. He pleaded not guilty and was offered $5,000. Late this evening met the bond and he was released. His next court appearance is August 31st.
