This afternoon 3 Belizeans serving time in Mexico for drug trafficking offences were brought to Belize to serve the remainder of their sentences at the Hattieville Prison. As part of the Mexico-Belize prisoner exchange program at three this afternoon Mexican authorities handed over Santos Sanchez, Ervin Zetina and Eliseo Castillo over to Belizean authorities. They were handed over to representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs and Hattieville prison officers.

The men are each serving more than thirty years in the Chetumal prison. They are expected to continue life behind bars as these men are also wanted by Belizean authorities. This exchange is the 16th such since Belize and Mexico entered into the agreement.
