A man was murdered last night in Belize City. Renato Logan was shot multiple times in Taylor's Alley. Logan later died at the KHMH but not before he told police who did it. Keith Swift has more.

Keith SwiftReporting,
At one am, residents in Taylor's Alley were awaken by the sound of gunfire. This 81-year-old grandmother, Hilda Longsworth, says the noise startled her out of her sleep.

Hilda Longsworth, Area Resident
"I heard five shots in the alley here son. That woke me because I heard bang bang bang. I didn't hear anybody scream or anything and me one was in my house and I am blind and blind and can't see good so I said the best thing for me to do was just sit down on my bedside and say my praise. I didn't want to come out here because while I am thinking they are in the alley, they could be in the yard. It was very frightening son, very frightening. You when you are old, I am 81, and you are in a house alone and you hear five shots close to where you live, how would you feel."

Witness,
"I heard some gunshots last night right and I stayed in my house. I didn't come out because I know when there is gunshots, bullets don't respect nobody. So I just stayed inside of my house until this morning when I heard them say the man dead."

Keith Swift,
How many shots did you hear?

Witness,
"I heard very well shots. A lot of shot I heard but still didn't come out because I know gunshots don't respect anyone and you don't know who will get shot."

Keith Swift,
Did you know the young man>?

Witness,
"Yeah I know the young man, his name is Logan."

The man has been identified as Renato Logan. This is where Logan was shot. Police say he was on his left, right chest, arm and face. And even with all this blood, Logan lived long enough to tell police who shot him. The alleged shooter is this man: 22-year-old Harrison Smith.

ASP Chester Williams, C.I.B. Commander
"He was still alive when the police arrived and was speaking and he

told the police certain information in relation to his death. He was subsequently transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later while undergoing treatment. Based on the information he had provided to the police prior to his death, we detained one Harrison Smith who is in custody at this present time and I believe he will be charged sometime this afternoon for the murder of Renato Logan."

Keith Swift,
What was the motive?

ASP Chester Williams,
"From what we understand so far, the motive seemed to have been somewhat drug related. We are not too sure of that but we believe more or less it is drug related."

On any given night, you could've have found Logan hanging out in Taylor's Alley. It just so happens that one of those nights was last night.

ASP Chester Williams,
"From one what we gathered is that he was walking through, he was passing through the area when the unfortunate incident unfolded."

Those who know Logan says he had varying problems but didn't deserve the cruel death he got last night here in Taylor's Alley, a place that was like a second home to him, a place where his blood now remains on the ground and the fence as a sober reminder.

Renato Logan is originally from southern Belize. He was released from prison in January of this year after serving a 5-month sentence for possession of a crack pipe. As for Harrison Smith, he will likely be arraigned in court tomorrow for murder. Police believe he was the shooter and he did it with a 9-millimeter gun.
