In the thick clamor of the Independence Day celebrations, at around 9:30 yesterday morning, police were called out to the Haulover Creek near the Belcan Bridge where they found a male body floating in the water. With the assistance of a passerby in a canoe, the body was brought to the bank of the river where an id card showed that it was 32 year old David Michael Burgess. A post mortem shows that he drowned and foul play is not suspected. Police say burgess had been suffering, "from medical problems and instability."
