A 17-year-old male was killed in an accident on the Northern Highway this afternoon. The accident occurred around 4:30. The victim is 17-year-old Marcos Ariel Cob from San Victor Village in the Corozal District.
Media reports from the scene are that Cob was in the back seat of a four-door Saturn driven by his cousin. Three persons were in the car and they were heading from Orange Walk to their home in San Victor Village when they reportedly lost control on a dangerous curve in Buena Vista Village. The car ran off the road and crashed head on into a coconut tree. The car then overturned and it appears that Cob was crushed in the back seat. He died on the spot while his two cousins were rushed to the Orange Walk Hospital. Their conditions are listed as critical. We'll have more on the accident on Monday.
