This morning in Corozal, Prime Minister Said Musa and Mexican Ambassador Arturo Trejo broke ground at the site where the new Centro Escolar Mexico will be built. The $1.4 million project will include new classrooms and an information technology lab for what is described as a technical and vocational school. There are plans to build additional facilities such as a gymnasium and auditorium in the future.

The Centro Escolar Mexico will be an addition to Escuela Secundaria Mexico which was built in November of 1982 in fulfillment of a pledge from the Mexican government. About 25 years later, Centro Escolar Mexico will be in furtherance of that promise.

The Escuela Secundaria Mexico has an enrollment of 500 students.
