In other Social Security news, 7NEWS has been following up on the Prime Minister's offhanded disclosure last week that the Social Security Board has offered Narda Garcia a settlement package which was accepted. How much is it? Well our reports say that the amount is $95,000. That's less than one year's salary which is over a hundred thousand dollars. Garcia had at least 4 years left on her contract.
The Prime Minister expressed disappointment that, after this payout, Garcia asked the Supreme Court to throw out the Senate report. Garcia loyalists have told us that she is intent on clearing her name and not being the scapegoat for the failure of a government-led securitization programme.
