In mid 2005 - 29 year old Independence villager Kevin Cadle was sent to jail for the unlawful carnal knowledge of a 14 year old. Today his appeal was heard in the Supreme Court, and the DPP himself stood up and said the case was grossly mishandled at the Supreme Court. The judges of the Appeals Court felt very much the same way and Cadle's attorney Simeon Sampson didn't even have to say anything to get the conviction quashed. The judges came to that conclusion on their own and Cadle was set free. Minutes later he told us that after 17 months in jail, freedom feels better than ever.

Kevin Cadle, Acquitted
"Since I was convicted in 2005, March, in Hattieville Prison, I was feeling very hurt because it is like a bomb they planted inside of me. But with God everything is possible and I just give thanks and praise to everybody out there in society. As long as you give yourself fully to the God, you will get justice where it is due. Just have the faith and stay strong."

Jules Vasquez,
How did you feel to know that you were the victim of all these missteps, all these wrong things?

Kevin Cadle,
"I was feeling very down and thing but all I could tell you right now is that it is very important when you have faith in God. But I feel very good right now since I got over this problem that they convicted me innocently."

Jules Vasquez,
You were accused of having sexual relations with a fourteen year old girl. Did you have those sexual relations with that child?

Kevin Cadle,
"No sir, none at all. I know that I am talking from my heart and from my mind. And as long as I give my life fully to God, I should be honest to myself and be honest to this society and other people. I feel like it was my kindness and my very discipline which I have inside my life, being that I live a very disciplined potential life, and I am a very poor and humble young man but I look after my people and I look after my health and I am always discipline in my working potential in every location that I work?"

Jules Vasquez,
What is the first thing you are going to do?

Kevin Cadle,
"I just want to get back and get in touch with my boss and start to work with my boss and I just want to tell thanks for everything that they are doing for me."

Cadle was accused of the crime in 2003.
