He's a man whose life appears to be under constant threat, but Eric Savery has dodged another bullet. Yesterday morning at around 8, Savery was driving on Dolphin Street with a friend in the passenger seat and his three children in the back seat. That's when 24-year-old Jamal Betancourt rode up on a bicycle and opened fire with a handgun. It was close range, but no one was hit and Savery sped off, and hit a parked car as he was making evasive maneuvers.
No one was hurt, and police found Betancourt. He has been charged with 5 counts of attempted murder and 5 counts of aggravated assault. He was remanded into custody.
In May of this year, Savery had a similar experience when he was driving down from Ladyville and a car rolled up beside him and opened fire. Two men were charged for that shooting and they were also remanded.
