Arrest for Counterfeit Bills in O/W Town

Orange Walk police have arrested two men following the discovery of a large quantity of counterfeit currency. Acting on information police visited a residence on Custard Apple Street. A search of the house turned up $9,500 worth of counterfeit Belizean bills hidden under a mattress. Along with the fake money they also found $11,710 in legitimate bills. Police believe the money is from the sale of drugs. While that=s their theory they did not find any supporting evidence for that.

They have since arrested and charged 56-year-old Daniel Lopez and 25-year-old Laurieni Melgar.
