Police have recovered a gun and other items stolen from the Bella Vista home of a Belize City businessman Rommel Berges. Vista Del Mar fisherman, 31 year old Dennis Quilter, who has appeared before the court 33 times, made his 34th appearance today to answer for the crime. Quilter was charged along with a 17-year-old minor. The were read charges of burglary and handling stolen goods, namely a loaded.380 berretta pistol, $1,500 in cash that was stuffed inside a bottle, a BB gun and a DVD player. The robbery occurred sometime between September 27 and October first. Over a month ago, but police were still hot on the trail when they received information that led them to Quilter and the teenager in the Mitchell Estate area of Ladyville. They found the gun, as well as jewelry believed to have been collected from another burglary.

The 17 year old did not appear because he has been remanded for that the burglary, involving the theft of over $20,000 in jewelry and US$4,000 in cash from the home of Eric Chang. He and Quilter are believed to have bought a car with the cash they netted in that case.

Quilter pleaded not guilty and was offered bail which will be revoked if he gets arrested for the 35th time.
