On January 29th of 2005 up and coming basketball star Arthur Crawford was shot to death as he was hanging out with friends on Iguana Street. An associate, 24 year old Charles Hinds was accused of pulling the trigger. Two years after the shooting, Hinds' murder trial began yesterday.
While two witnesses testified that it was Hinds who fired the gun, today Hinds' attorney Michael Peyrefitte filed a no case submission. That was upheld and Hinds was set free. The case was thrown out because there was no gun to match a slug which was taken out of Crawford's body.
Luciano Torres who had been charged with two counts of aggravated assault for pointing a gun at Crawford's friends, got off on December 3rd of last year with nolle prosequi submission.
