Medical and Dental Union Rejects Universal/KHMH Merger

Government's plan to amalgamate Universal Health Services and the KHMH continues to encounter resistance from medical professionals. The nurses have rejected it, the medical staff of the KHMH have done the same, and now the Belize Medical and Dental Association has weighed in against it. A release says the BMDA met yesterday and made the unanimous decision that the government should acquire all 100% of Universal.

The present proposal is for government, after squaring away the $32 million secretly guaranteed Belize Bank debt, and writing off much of the $12 million DFC debt would take up ownership of two thirds of Universal.
