A home invasion that happened yesterday has shocked the community and if you haven't heard about it yet, it'll shock you too. Armed men yesterday stormed into the home of an elderly couple, held them up at gunpoint and robbed them. Police believe one of the men involved in the robbery was a close relative. 83 year old Camille Sutherland and his wife 71 year old Radiance Sutherland were with their 24 year old grand-daughter on Kelly Street when it happened. The Sutherlands have since left town and headed to Belmopan, but we today spoke to their granddaughter Latoya Price who told us that the gunmen could have killed her grandparents.

24-year-old Latoya Price was at home here at number one Kelly Street yesterday afternoon. She says she was watching television while her 83-year-old grandfather Camille Sutherland was seated on this bench. His wife 71 year old Radiance Sutherland was in the kitchen. Latoya says two men came from the rear of the house up these steps and held up the elderly couple. She told us the story but wished to appear off camera.

"I could have peeped through where the door was by the dining room and the table and I saw when the boy had the gun in my granny's face and then he held in her clothes. So I got up and I walked towards the kitchen not knowing that the next one was on the verandah. He had the gun on my grandpa. He had the gun pointed on my grandfather and my son, I heard him bawl out. So when he bawl out, this time I walked faster going towards the kitchen and the only thing I could do was grab his hand and run outside. So when I ran outside I heard the boy asked the other boy where was I. I got outside and I started to cry and the lady over there, she heard me and she asked me what happened and she called the police."

Did they manage to take anything from your granny?
Latoya Price,
"They grabbed off my granny's chain off her neck."
The assailants did not conceal their identities and price says they were both carrying firearms. She says the weapons could be sawed off shotguns.
Latoya Price,
"Two of them had guns."
Alfonso Noble,
The next one that attacked your grandmother, what kind of gun did he have?
Latoya Price,
"I don't know if it is a sawed off they call it but the gun was a long gun."
Alfonso Noble,
So two of them had sawed off guns?
Latoya Price,
"It look liked two of them had the same thing. I was afraid. I was frightened...all kind a thing."
Alfonso Noble,
Did they hurt any of your grandparents?
Latoya Price,
"No they didn't really hurt, they just shoved my grandfather down on the ground, on the verandah. And the thing is that they shoved him down and he have this pacemaker in his heart, where he has to go take an operation on. I didn't expect they would come up here, I mean they feel like we have $30,000, I don't see how."
Alfonso Noble,
So they were asking for $30,000?
Latoya Price,
"They asked my granny for money but from what I understand, somebody told them that we have $30,000 in this house. If we even had that kind of money, you think we would have that money in this house? Come on, I don't know where their head is."
Wherever it was it was definitely bent on preying on a defenseless elderly couple, prepared to do anything to get a quick reward.
Police have since detained 3 men in connection with the robbery. One of them is Latoya Price's cousin.
