Roaring Creek Father Convicted of Incest

Today, a 40-year-old man who had been charged with 4 counts of incest was found guilty in the Supreme Court. We can't tell you his name or show his picture because it could lead to the identity of the victim. The Roaring Creek resident had been accused by his daughter that on 4 instances during 1999 and 2002 when she was between the ages of 10 and 12 years he had sexual intercourse with her.

The jury found him not guilty on 1 count and guilty on three of the other counts. He will reappear in court on February 8 for sentencing. Under Belizean law anyone found guilty of incest of a child of an age below 12 years is to be sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison and a maximum of life. Audrey Matura prosecuted.
