A 53-year-old Punta Gorda man is detained pending charges after his stepdaughter accused him of having sexual intercourse with her.
The man was picked up by police last night after the 12 year old girl reported to police that he has been having sexual intercourse with her from 2006. The child reported to police that she had engaged in sexual activity from the age of 9 with a neighbor who was the same age as her. After that, the stepfather stepped in. The man is now detained and is expected to be charged shortly.
What's notable is that when the man was detained the child's mother requested that no court action be taken against her husband. Police are now investigating the mother as well since there is the possibility she may have known about the situation prior to the young girl making the report.
