She already has thirteen previous convictions for shoplifting and now stealing soap and Campari have earned 56-year-old Shirley Welcome her 14th and 15th convictions for theft. Welcome appeared in court this morning before Senior Magistrate Dorothy Flowers and pleaded guilty to the two counts of theft.
The first count is for allegedly stealing from Bottom Dalla Store on Friday April 13th. She was allegedly caught putting 2 Dial brand body wash and an Axe shower scrub into the waist of her underwear. Welcome was initially detained but released on Saturday because the store's manager hadn't given the police a statement.
And because she was released on Saturday that allowed her to be free on Monday to allegedly shoplift from 88 Shopping Center. The store's owner Yang Yan Pei told police that on Monday he saw Welcome on the video camera in his store putting three bottles of Campari into a school bag she was carrying.
Welcome pleaded guilty and she was sentenced to one year in jail for each count. The sentences are to run consecutively so she'll spend a total of 2 years in jail.
