And if those shootings weren't enough to worry about, police have a lot more on their hands. 13 firearms were stolen between Saturday night and early Sunday morning and so far police have only recovered one.
It started just before 9:00 pm on Saturday night at the Beauty Plaza at the corner of Church Street and East Canal. Two men on bicycles pulled up to the store's Anchor security guard 21 year old Andy Fermin, and one of them pulled out a chrome handgun. Fermin reached for his 38 revolver but the man with the gun told him to put it on the ground. The gunman then took the gun and rode off.
Just a few minutes later, two men, again with a chrome handgun, forced their way into Anchor's main office on East Canal - just three block from Beauty Plaza. They slipped in behind the door supervisor, Phillip Nicholson. One of them pointed the chrome handgun to night supervisor Robert Novelo's temple, and the other pointed a black handgun to Nicholson's head.
They told Nicholson to open the safe where the guns are stored and they snatched up four 38 revolvers, two 12 gauge shotguns, one 22 pistol, and one 9 millimeter pistol. Police believe they stuffed the firearms in a bag, carried the shotguns in their hands and left on bike.
That's 11 stolen guns but that wouldn't be the end of it...
