Broad-Daylight Armed Robbery at Safeway Drugstore

Staff at Safeway Drug Store on Central American Boulevard are still shaken tonight after a terrifying armed robbery this afternoon. It happened at about 4:00 pm when traffic was thick on the Boulevard. Two men, one of them with a 38 pistol stormed into the store and ordered everyone to lie on the ground.

That included 4 customers who were robbed of all their valuables, including jewelry, cell phones, purses, wallets and bags. They then went behind the counter and helped themselves to what was in the drawer.

Police have been reviewing a security tape and tonight are combing the Lake Independence area looking for suspects.
