There was a jewelry heist on Monday morning in Belize City and tonight police have two suspects who they say were caught on the store's surveillance camera.

Nigel Gongora told police that around 10 am he was inside his store, Edith's Jewelry, on George Street when two armed men entered. Gongora alleges that the men grabbed gold bracelets, chains, anklets, and rings valued at well over $8,000. They also took his wallet containing $300 in cash. Police now say the two men who robbed Gongora are 19-year-old Leon Garcia and 18-year-old Burly Card. Both

have been charged for robbery. They appeared in Magistrate's Court today and were denied bail.

In addition 18-year-old Russell James, 19 year old Jamaal Pook, 19 year old Harold Haylock, 17 year old Eric Walford, and a 16 year old minor who were allegedly busted in a home on West Canal with the stolen jewelry have been charged with handling stolen goods.

And police say Burly Card stole more than just jewelry. He has an additional count of robbery based on a report from Giles Usher. He says that Saturday night he was on George Street when Card and an accomplice used a gun to rob him of his 9-millimeter pistol. Police haven't recovered the stolen gun.

Leon Garcia also has a separate robbery charge pending. BDF Corporal Elisha Novelo told police that on Monday she was robbed of $250 in cash and his cell phone on Mahogany Street by 4 men. Novelo picked out Garcia as one of his robbers who he further claims punched him in the face. Garcia is facing an additional count of wounding for the punch.
