$39,000 in cash was stolen in an armed robbery at 6 am yesterday from the Esso gas station in Ladyville. Tonight police say they’ve recovered over $10,000 of the stolen money and have two suspects detained. Those suspects are tonight detained pending charges. Police say the men who are detained are both from Belize City.
We also know that the suspects led investigators to the stolen money. They are expected to be charged tomorrow after an ID parade and a cross matching with the security cameras.
The Esso Gas Station had just opened for the day when the two men entered. Both were armed and they ordered everyone to lie on the ground. They then headed straight for the office where the money was kept. The $39,000 had been gathered in weekend sales.
