He raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter and then threatened to kill her if she told anyone and now Eliseo Chan will spend 15 years in jail for it. A jury convicted him last week and today Justice Herbert Lord sentenced Chan in the northern session of the Supreme Court.
The rape occurred between January 1st and December 25th of 2005. The victim told police she was in the bedroom with her 5-year-old sister when Chan undressed her and molested her. He later threatened to kill her if she told anyone. During the trial, Chan gave a statement from the dock denying the charges – saying he was set up.
Today at sentencing, mitigation pleas were made on Chan’s behalf. His 15 year jail sentence began today.
