Police today arrested and charged four more men for recent gun crimes committed in the city. The men were taken to Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and at the front was 25 year old Trenton Sheldon Smith. He was charged for the august 30th murder of Tyrone (Tyron) Castillo at the corner of Mayflower and Vernon Streets. CIB Chief Aaron Guzman says all the evidence points to Smith as the gunman but they are still unsure about the motive.
Keith Swift,
Have you guys come up with a motive as to why Mr. Smith might have wanted to kill Mr. Castillo?
Supt. Aaron Guzman,
“At this stage we cannot pinpoint a positive but that is the person we have statements pointing to that actually did the shooting where Mr. Castillo is concerned. So that is the evidence we have right now and that is the angle we have so far.”
Keith Swift,
Is it related to the Junie Balls murder because we know he was at Junie Balls’ wake when the murder?
Supt. Aaron Guzman,
“Mr. Swift some strange things are happening where we see that people who you may have believed to have been friends, are involved in that person’s death so I will not speculate at this time.”
Sheldon Trenton Smith was remanded to prison until October 11th Castillo was attending the wake for George “Junie Balls” McKenzie when a gunman wearing a red rag exited a Suzuki Vitara and shot him. His family told us at the time that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
