Father & Infant Daughter Killed in Western Hwy Accident

Two are dead after another deadly accident just outside of Belmopan around 11:00 this morning. It happened on that very accident prone stretch of road near the Hector Silva Airstrip. This Chevy S-10 was heading from Belize City to Belmopan loaded with 7 passengers when driver Andon Poot lost control. The vehicle flipped a number of times and landed back on its wheels.

36-year-old Juan Francisco Barrera was in the pan of the truck and he was flung out. He landed on the edge of the road and died on impact. His small child, 7-month-old Martha Soledad Barrera was also flung from the pickup and died shortly after at the Belmopan Hospital.

5 more passengers, 3 men and two women were hospitalized with varying injuries.
