Around 4:00 this afternoon, a concerned neighbor discovered the body of a well known of Ladyville resident inside his home on Mamie Road. He is 72 year old Alden Reid, better known as Goldfinger. And while the senior citizen was found dead - by all appearances, it wasn't a natural death; police suspect foul play. But why would someone kill a 72 year old? 7_NEWS_ was on the scene and spoke with the officer in charge of the Ladyville Crimes Investigation Branch, Corporal Samuel Bonilla.

Cpl. Samuel Bonilla, Ladyville Police
"About 4:20 this afternoon we got information of a person lying down on the ground inside his yard on Mamie Street in Ladyville. As a result we proceeded to the area and on our arrival we found Mr. Alden Reed, 72 years old, lying face down on the ground with stab wounds to his body, apparently dead."

Jacqueline Godwin,
Judging from how the body looked, when do you believe he may have been killed?

Cpl. Samuel Bonilla,
"We have witnesses that we have already spoken to who say he was alive on Saturday. Saturday was the last time he was seen alive."

Jacqueline Godwin,
So it is sometime between Saturday and...

Cpl. Samuel Bonilla,
"Up until this morning or up until this afternoon. We believe most likely he may have died from Saturday night."

At newstime, police still had not removed the body and best indications are that there will be a post mortem on site tomorrow. Late information to 7NEWS says that the house had been ransacked and Reid's wallet was found next to his body. He owns a licensed firearm which is also missing. At this time, police say they don't have any leads, but sources tell 7NEWS that someone had threatened to kill Reid.
