We always hear the bad stories about police, abusing citizens and their power. But tonight, we have the good side of the largest department In the government service. Three officers of the month were recognized this morning. Here's Ms. September, and Mr. October and November.

Gerald Westby, Commissioner of Police
"You only hear the bad story, the criminal story but there are certainly great stories."

And for the police, today it was all about these officers of the month. Constables Anthony Flowers and Sherla Cocom, both from Ladyville, and Leroy Flowers from the Eastern Division Special Branch.

Gerald Westby,
"The person has to be exemplary in terms of having good PR, making arrests, and attitude - a whole combination of criteria put together."

With two from a fairly small substation in Ladyville, they must be doing something right.

Calbert Flowers, Ladyville Police
"It is saying that my officers are motivated, they are willing to work. These officers are willing to work above and beyond the call of duty."

WPC Sherla Cocom,
"Yes I was very surprised, I didn't expect it but good things happen to those who wait."

Jacqueline Godwin,
How about you?

PC Anthony Flowers,
"I was shocked. I could not believe it. I said they must be joking."

Jacqueline Godwin,
Why did you both decide to join the Police Department?

WPC Sherla Cocom,
"Well first of all I was seeing an increase in crimes so I decided I could put in my hand and I could do something. That is one of the main reasons why I became a police officer."

Jacqueline Godwin,
How about you Mr. Flowers?

WPC Sherla Cocom,
"I joined because I love working with people. I love stopping crimes and I enjoy doing that."

Leroy Flowers,
"When I was growing up I learnt to have discipline and that is why I joined the police department so I came in with the discipline that I was brought up with so that is why at this time I am here."

And for showing discipline on the job, these officers both got certificates and a check.

Calbert Flowers,
"In the normal course of the year we do $100 a month from January to November and in December we are increasing it so we encourage all policemen to make sure they do a very good job in the month of December."
