Authorities are investigating the second murder for 2008. This time, the homicide occurred in the Cayo District. Fifty seven year old Santa Elena taxi driver Raul Cortez failed to return home after he left for work on Sunday morning. Around nine this morning, Belmopan police discovered Cortez’s lifeless body inside his Mazda car. Cortez was slumped over the steering wheel. He had been stabbed once to the back of the neck. Authorities are trying to determine whether or not it was someone who had requested cab service that killed Cortez. Police say so far they only know that the last time Cortez was seen alive was when he left to go to work yesterday morning. Cortez and his vehicle were found on a feeder road in an area off the Prayer Mountain Road in Ontario Village.
