Twenty - one year old Ladyville resident, Christine Zetina remains hospitalized at the KHMH. This is three days after her former boyfriend identified as Lenny Bennett tried to kill her. Reports reaching 7NEWS reveal that Bennett had recently been released from the Hattieville Prison after serving a two year sentence. While away Zetina reportedly started dating another young man and was not interested in continuing any relationship with Bennett.
But that did not stop the ex convict from harassing his former girlfriend and he reportedly even threatened to kill Zetina and her new boyfriend. And that jealousy is what led to a dangerous encounter on Monday night. Around nine on Monday night, the couple was riding separate bicycles on Gilbert Quilter Street when they were approached by Bennett. Before the couple had time to react, Bennett had pulled out a gun and fired four shots at them. He then ran off.
One of the bullets struck Zetina in her left leg. She was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she remains in a stable condition. The authorities are asking anyone with information that can lead them to Lenny Bennett to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 0-800-922-8477.
