One man is dead and another is critical after a broad daylight shooting on Gill Street. It happened around 5 p.m. when three men were riding their bicycles on Gill Street in the Port Loyola area. That’s when witnesses tell us that they heard multiple gunshots. Two men were found lying on the ground. One was shot in the back of his head and died on the spot – while the second man was injured. When our 7NEWS team arrived on the scene the bodies had been removed but police were still there counting the expended shells and collecting evidence. Those who live in the area heard the gunshots but declined an on-camera interview. Two residents did tell us what they heard and saw off-camera.

Witness #1,
“Well we were inside and we just heard a lot of gunshots. That is at all we heard. About at least ten or fifteen.”

Keith Swift,
_When you came out what did you see?

Witness #1,
“Blood, two men on the street and a lot of blood. None of them were saying anything. I was frightened so I couldn’t see if they were alive. I don’t know any of them.”

Keith Swift,
What went through your mind when you heard the shots?

Witness #1,
“Its very scary because at this hour, children are passing from school, people are coming from work. So it’s still daylight for gunshots these hours. It is very scary. So I don’t know what to say other than that.”

Witness #2,
“Just a lot of gunshots from my house. After we heard the gunshots we came out and saw the two guys on the street. I took a peak but couldn’t speak with any of them.”

Keith Swift,
Recognized any of them?

Witness #2,
“No sir, none of them. They say they were coming home from work. That is all we know. I have never seen them before, nothing.”

Keith Swift,
As a resident in this area what is your reaction?

Witness #2,
“I am ready to move from this area. It is too bad. I have a son and I don’t want to raise him in this environment; it is too much.”

Police would only confirm that one man is dead and another is hospitalized. The men again appeared to have been returning work since they all had on hard hats.
