Two men were murdered in orange walk last night and one is in critical condition – casualties in what police say is a war between two rival underworld factions. The two dead are 45 year old Jose Ricalde, seen here on the right, and 21 year old Nazim Romero, seen here on the left in a picture from his childhood,
while a third man Noe Perez is in critical condition at the KHMH. He was shot in the right side of the abdomen, left leg, right hand and left ring finger.
They were attacked last night at around 8:00 in Orange Walk Town when a lone gunman opened fire with a 9 millimeter pistol on the home of Alfredo Urbina on Royal Palm Street. Police believe the shooter is Luis Cardenes Jr.
And that’s the real story. Cardenas who is Belize City based and Urbina who is Orange Walk based are allegedly at war and that escalated on the weekend when 18 year old Alden Hall went missing. Police believe that hall was an associate of Cardenas and that he was in fact abducted, and Urbina may know about it. And that brings us back to last night’s shootout – which was believed to have been a retaliation for the abduction. And tonight Alden Hall is still missing, and no one can say where he might be.
