Six days after one female bartender was killed and eleven patrons of the Putt Putt Bar and Grill received gunshot injuries, the establishment remains closed, but not for too long.

While area residents had expressed concern and their wish for permanent closure of all the drinking establishments along the strip of Newtown Barracks, today, the Putt Putt’s Proprietor Orson Elrington informed 7NEWS that presently his place is being renovated and should reopen

sometime next week. We don’t know if it will bring any comfort to the neighborhood but Elrington says the place is being renovated to install an improved security system.

In the early morning of Saturday, February ninth at least two gunmen police identified as Jason King and Charles Moss opened fire on a group of young men. The bartender nineteen year old Deandra Zetina was hit in the back and killed. Eleven people, who were socializing at the establishment at the time, received varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

Authorities say it was an ongoing feud between two rival groups, George Street and Brick City that triggered the mayhem which spilled onto the Belcan Bridge where another young woman, seventeen year old Michelle Cattouse was shot. Cattouse is a former student who attended Nazarene High School up to early 2007. She died after being rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Four other persons were also injured in that shooting.

Police arrested a shooter identified as Roy Felix better known as Roy Bennett. The last incident unfolded on Raccoon Street Extension in which the shooter, Leroy Ramsey was later captured by police after a wanted poster was issued for his arrest. Today, authorities told 7NEWS that their investigation is ongoing and they are trying to determine if other persons may be involved in this unprecedented string of armed attacks.
