Reports say that Corozal police are confident of an arrest in the murder of taxi driver Eduardo Samos. The 50 year old’s body was found in a canefield near Xaibe one week ago; he had been shot to the side of the head and his car had been stolen. Eyewitnesses who saw Samos pickup the passenger on Tuesday February 12th concluded that he was an out of towner, because he didn’t look familiar. That made the case difficult for investigators but impressive detective work gave them their break when his car was found in Belize City. The young man who was in possession of it also had Samos’ cell phone. And while that makes him a prime suspect, he has not been charged and as we understand it, is only being questioned at this time. But late reports say police are very close to bringing charges.
