Belizean skies were mostly clear last night which meant a great opportunity to see the lunar eclipse. And as our time lapse camera shows, the full moon was bright in the sky as earth's shadow inched out from the left of the glowing sphere, ultimately turning it a rusty red-dish hue. It started at a few minutes to 8:00 and lasted for three hours. The only bad part is, just as it was about to go into full eclipse at around 9:00, a thick cloud rolled in and blanketed our vision.

But still, the sight is precious as it is the last lunar eclipse that we’ll see until 2010. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth's shadow blocks the sun's rays from hitting the moon. The three bodies must be perfectly aligned during a full moon, which is a rare event. We leave you with that this evening.
