Twenty three year old Leon Walford, a resident of forty three Amara Avenue is tonight cooling his heels in the Hattieville Prison. But we can tell you he much rather be spending time in a mental institution that is because when he appeared earlier today before Belize City Magistrate Sharon Frazer he begged the court to send him to the Rockview Hospital and not to jail.
Walford got himself into trouble after stabbing twenty nine year old Cedric Martinez two times to the left side of his rib cage on Sunday. Martinez told police that while he was at the corner of Bocotora and Iguana Streets when Walford stabbed him. Why? Well according to Martinez he was stabbed because he had a previous misunderstanding he had with Walford.
While no plea was taken in court Walford claims that not only is he innocent but he does not even know Martinez. So he cannot understand why the police charged him. He has been charged for attempted murder, one count of dangerous harm and one count of use of deadly means of harm. The police prosecutor objected to bail, explaining that Leon Walford also has a robbery charge pending. The objection was upheld and much to his objection Leon Walford was then remanded to Hattieville Prison, not Rockview. His case has been adjourned for August thirteenth.
